🌿🫐 Embrace your inner mixologist and swap rum for gin to make a refreshing blueberry gin mojito! Enjoy this vibrant twist on the classic cocktail with juicy blueberries, floral gin, and of course, fresh mint.
Even with all that mint pea dip I've been making, I still have SO MUCH mint left in my garden. As I've said before, I do love a good mojito, but in truth rum is not my favorite spirit. That title switches between gin and whiskey, depending on the season and the weather 😂. Warm weather during the summer? Gin for sure. Ergo, allow me to introduce the blueberry gin mojito cocktail!
Why You'll Love It
This blueberry gin mojito is literally summer in a chilled glass. It's SO refreshing, light, and super easy to mix up. Muddle it all in the shaker and pour over ice. That's it! Plus, it's ridiculously pretty 💜, just look at that magenta and purple color!
Ingredients
First and foremost, blueberries take the center stage in this refreshing concoction. These plump and juicy berries bring a natural sweetness and a beautiful pop of color to the drink.
Next up, we have the star of the show - gin. This spirit adds a delightful botanical note and a subtle hint of juniper that perfectly complements the sweetness of the blueberries. Choose your preferred gin, whether it be a classic London Dry or a floral and aromatic variety, to tailor the taste of your cocktail to your liking. I prefer a floral gin for this blueberry gin mojito, specifically Empress Indigo Gin for more purple color!
Third, fresh mint. No mojito is complete without mint. An essential component to this cocktail, make sure to use fresh mint and err on the side of more is better.
Finally, lime juice! While you can use store bought in a bottle, freshly squeezed lime juice adds much more flavor. The acidity of the lime juice helps to cut through the sweetness of the blueberries and adds a refreshing tartness.
Also, remember a little simple syrup and a splash of club soda!
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, although fresh is best for flavor. If using frozen blueberries, let them thaw a little bit first to release their juices a bit before muddling.
While blueberries are one of the main ingredients, you can substitute with other fruits. Raspberries, strawberries, or blackberries are good options!
Yes, you can definitely make a non-alcoholic version of this cocktail. Simply omit the gin and replace it with sparkling water or a non-alcoholic spirit substitute like Ritual Zero Proof Gin Alternative. You'll still get the refreshing taste of blueberries and mint without the alcohol.
