Let's go to the Movies!
Rented for the Homestead: Jack Ryan
So this isn’t a movie but it’s so fantastic I had to share it. It’s a quick 8 episode season one on amazon prime and I binged it in 3 days. Jack Ryan is a CIA officer from a book series by Tom Clancy (The Hunt for the Red October? Jack Ryan). In this installment, he is played by John Krasinski who is instantly engaging, hilarious yet serious, and I can’t get enough. This particular plot line isn’t based on any specific book in the series but definitely has many of the same characters. The time line has been brought forward into the present day (as opposed to the 80’s) and deals with modern conflicts, specifically terrorism. It’s SO good that I rewatched it with Dan and he also finished it in 3 days. I’m SO ready for season 2, hurry up amazon! (Photo Via Pinterest).
Excited to See: The Nun
If you can’t tell from the poster, this movie is going to be terrifying and I’m SO excited. It’s part of the conjuring series of which I’m a big fan. If you want a good scare, I heartily recommend them. I put off seeing this until October because it’ll be PERFECT for Halloween. I’ll let you know if it stands up to the rest of the series! Out of the Kitchen - Vancouver, B.C.
Dan and I took a quick weekend trip up to Vancouver for our FIRST wedding anniversary. We’ve been married a whole year 😍😍!!! Honestly where does the time go? Since we took a bigger trip to Chicago this year and have a bunch of little weekend trips requiring flights over the holidays, we opted for a quick 3 day getaway to Vancouver. It’s only 2 ½ hours from Seattle! Plus it requires a passport so it felt like we were really away away.
We stayed in an adorable airbnb in Yale town, where we could walk to restaurants, bars, and the sea walk that goes around the entire island! We were also only 15 minutes from Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, a stunning park in the forest with (you guessed it) a suspension bridge walk through the trees! There’s also a cliff walk which scared the bejesus out of me, complete with a glass floor. Let me tell you I faced my fears that day 😁.
Other than that, we did lots of fooding, hanging out in the complimentary pool and sauna, and watching movies. I even got Dan to watch one of my faves, Pride and Predjudice! (Yes the Kiera Knightley version. Yes I love it. However. Colin Firth is forever and always Mr. Darcy because obviously). For our anniversary dinner, we ate at Lupo, a delicious Italian restaurant in a converted house in Yale town. We even splurged on some swanky wine 😎 and it was fantastic.
OH and ps. That croissant breakfast sandwich picture up at the beginning of this post? We found that treasure at a local Yale Town bakery called Small Victory just blocks away from where we stayed. UM please move to Seattle immediately thanks so much.
