Oh hey friends. So is anyone else struggling with the time change? Does it not feel like this week has been dragging away and it's just now Thursday?
Well, if it has, this is my light at the end of the tunnel: Cheesy Broccoli Green Onion Quiche aka my favorite quiche of all time. My mom used to make this recipe when I was a little kid and throughout the years it's stuck with me. Made with broccoli, green onion, and some swiss and cheddar cheese, it's just so easy, simple and good.
Seriously though. Layer cheese on the bottom of the crust, pour the broccoli and green onion on top, cover with beaten eggs and milk and add more cheese slash sprinkle with some shredded cheese. Because, cheese. Aaaand maybe a little more shredded cheese...
So I know this Cheesy Broccoli Green Onion Quiche is nutritious and all because there's veggies, but basically I find any quiche to be an excellent vehicle for cheese (in case you hadn't noticed). Which is what makes this recipe the perfect comfort food after a particularly long day.
Having said that, this quiche is also a wonderful brunch recipe! You can even switch the broccoli out for asparagus to make it a little more breakfast friendly.
Really you guys. I don't even know what I'm writing anymore. The time change has left my brain in a severe deficit. So if it's been one of those days, or one of those weeks even, like apparently it has been for me, this Cheesy Broccoli Green Onion Quiche is the perfect go-to recipe for you. Now excuse me while I chow down on some serious comfort food.

The golden crust on top of that quiche looks exquisite. I like the contrast the cast iron pan creates in those pictures.

so did you make yours in a cast iron skillet or pie dish?
Aberdeen says
I made this particular quiche in the cast iron skillet pictured above, but you can make it in a regular pie pan as well.

Do you by chance have the nutritional facts? I want to make it but am trying to be healthy as well...
Looks amazing though <3

It actually depends on the milk you use! One slice would be somewhere around 375 calories with nonfat milk. I also always use regular cheese so you could try a lower fat version of those as well but I'm not sure how well they work :-/

I made this without defrosting the broccoli, as the recipe said, but it turned out very runny. I tried to drain it afterwards and that helped some, but it still had a lot of excess water.
Aberdeen says
Thank you so much for pointing this out! I'm sorry this quiche didn't turn out right for you. Defrosting the broccoli will definitely help with the watery issue and has been updated in the recipe. I hope you give it another try!

I am not a huge fan of Swiss cheese. Any other ones that would taste good?
Lucy says
No, no other cheese in the entire world would taste good.

I don't use American Cheese but other than that, use can use any kind. I'm making one tonight with gruyere, cheddar and a lil parm.. you can, also, add any veggie you want.. Enjoy... I love this recipe and use it as a base. 😉

Do you pre bake the crust?
Aberdeen says
TBH I don't, but it's a good idea 👍🏻.
