Why You'll Love This Hawaiian Whiskey Sour Cocktail
Apart from tasting like sunshine in a glass?? So many reasons!
Straight up show-stopping: Vibrant, sunny color makes this cocktail as pretty as it is delicious.
Where tropical meets classic: A fun riff on the whiskey sour that has me perusing flights back to Hawaii ๐๏ธ!
Perfectly balanced flavor: Smooth whiskey paired with bright pineapple and just the right sweetness via rich syrup.
It's easy to make: Shake, strain, and sip-no complicated bar tools or ingredients required.
Ingredients
For one hawaiian whiskey sour cocktail, you'll need:
- Bourbon - smooth, warming base
- Pineapple juice - tropical sweetness
- Fresh lemon juice - bright, crisp acidity
- Rich syrup - balances tart and sweet
- Egg white or aquafaba - optional, but gives that silky foam
- Luxardo cherry + syrup - the perfect finishing touch
๐ Full measurements and instructions are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post!

Subs and Swaps
Don't have all the ingredients? Want to try a different flavor? Try these!
Tart cherry twist - Swap the pineapple juice for tart cherry juice for a fun, slightly tangier take.
Sweet swap - Try honey or agave instead of rich syrup for a different flavor note.
Vegan option - Substitute aquafaba (chickpea liquid) for the egg white, or leave it out entirely. The cocktail will still be delicious, just a little less silky and frothy.
Glassware Options
TBH I just used a heavy bottomed drinking glass (I don't have fun Tiki glassware, shocking right?? I'll get on it pronto don't even stress) but here are a few options to give your Hawaiian Whiskey Sour Cocktail some extra pizzazz:
- Tiki glass - Lean all the way into tropical island style!
- Rocks glass - For a more classic whiskey sour presentation.
- Coupe glass - For a chic, elevated vibe ๐ธ.
Grab a glass and let's get mixing!

Hawaiian Sour Whiskey Cocktail

Description
A tropical twist on the classic whiskey sour with bourbon, pineapple, lemon, and a silky foam finish. Garnished with a Luxardo cherry and swirl of cherry syurp!
Ingredients
- 1 ยฝ oz bourbon
- 1 oz pineapple juice
- ยพ oz fresh lemon juice
- ยฝ oz rich syrup (2:1 sugar to water)
- 1 egg white (substitute aquafaba for a vegan version)
- Garnish: Luxardo cherry + a couple drops of cherry syrup (or a swirl if you prefer!)
- Ice, for shaking
Instructions
- Add bourbon, pineapple juice, lemon juice, rich syrup, and egg white (or aquafaba) to a cocktail shaker without ice. Dry shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
- Add ice and shake again until well chilled.
- Strain into your choice of rocks glass, coupe glass, or tiki glass.
- Garnish with a Luxardo cherry and swirl a couple drops of the cherry syrup over the top. Serve immediately.
Notes
Egg white substitute: For a vegan version, swap the egg white with aquafaba (the liquid from canned chickpeas). It creates a similar silky foam without altering the flavor.
Rich syrup: Make your own by combining 2 parts sugar with 1 part water in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stir frequently for about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves, then cool completely before using.
No shaker? No problem!ย Use a mason jar with a tight lid to dry shake and ice shake your cocktail in a pinch.
