WOW it's hot. Bright, sunny, warm, summer...
Ugh. 🤣.
But I speak my truth. Beverage of choice for these dog days of August? The English tennis/cricket favorite, a classic Pimm's Cup cocktail!
It's hot, sunny, and all blue skies outside and...well...I'm not a fan. I'm as pale as ever, hiding in the air conditioning and any spot of shade I can find when outdoors. It's not so much the sun or the blue sky (although we all know how much I would prefer a misty, gray day pretty much every day), it's the heat.
I. Do. Not. Do. Heat.
Fortunately, I've found a solution so that I can actually enjoy an evening out in the summer sun: the traditional Pimm's Cup beverage!
TBH I don't know why I haven't done this before.
First of all, this classic cocktail is Pimm's Cup No. 1, a gin liqueur. Gin girl right here 🙋🏼♀️!
Second, you mix it with lemonade. Summer = a nice cold glass of lemonade amiright? Add a gin liquere and we're in business.
Actually, small side note. In England, lemonade is quite different than here in the US. It's closer to a lemon/lime soda, closer to a fizzy drink. Ergo, I went for sparkling lemonade so we could have the best of both worlds!
Third, it's absolute tradition to garnish this drink within an inch of it's life.
LOOK at the add ones! Cucumber slices, strawberries, lemon wedges, fresh basil leaves, edible flowers...and that's just what I did. Oranges are popular, mint instead of basil, thyme, limes, just go for it!
Grab the recipe below. Cheers!
