Welp, it's almost May. Pretty sure 2020 is cancelled 🤷🏻♀️. But just in case you'd still like to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year, I've got a new beverage for you: a strawberry basil paloma cocktail!
Did you know that the paloma is actually the most popular Mexican cocktail? Not the margarita? High time we got on this grapefruit and tequila train!
Traditionally a paloma is literally just tequila and grape fruit soda with a little lime.
That's it. It's legit the easiest cocktail I've ever seen. However, I'm not the biggest soda person so I generally go for fresh grapefruit juice with just a splash of grapefruit soda. If you're on a healthy kick you can also replace the soda with some grapefruit infused sparkling water and a teensy bit of simple syrup for sweetness.
Now, why not dress up the classic and go CRAyzay? Crazy...Stir crazy? Cabin fever? It may have resulted in this strawberry basil paloma version but it's delicious and I'm here for it.
Switch out the lime with a couple chopped up strawberries and a few leaves of basil. Muddle it all together with your favorite tequila and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and there you go! A fabulously festive Cinco de Mayo cocktail. Scroll down for the recipe!
