It's that time of the year again! AKA that time of year where I was born sooo it's birthday break time. Stepping away from cooking and recipes for a couple of days.
TBH it's been a rough couple of weeks with a resurgence of back issues and my stress levels have been absolutely through the roof. Rest assured I'm going to recoup, relax, and take some time off during this long weekend. Hopefully, I'll be good as new come Monday!
In the meantime, these few photos are from our recent trip to Scotland and Ireland. On our way to the Isle of Skye in the highlands of Scotland, we stopped at Eilean Donan Castle just before the bridge. It's literally on the side of the road which is crazy to think about. Here in the US there's a gas station off the side of the road, not the ruins of a medieval castle 😂 (to be fair that is definitely not always the case, but you know what I mean).
Thoughts on Dan's "smile"? 😆 Love him.
We also stopped at the Clava Cairns near Culloden because ... Outlander fan RIGHT here friends! The Clava Cairns were the inspiration for Craig Na Dun where Claire starts her time-traveling Scottish adventure by touching a magic stone.
So here's me getting my Outlander on because obviously I had to. I was not transported back to the 1700s and saved by a strapping young red-headed Scotsman - but luckily, I already have one of those 🥰.
Anyhoo just a few pictures for now because that's legit all I can handle for the moment. BUT! A little birthday break time then more to follow in the coming weeks.
Weirdo alert. See you all next week ✌!

I don't think I've ever commented on any of your blog entries but I wanted to tell you that I'm going to make that turkey you posted the other day. It probably won't be until after Thanksgiving because we're traveling for the holiday, but I'll get it done when we get home. Enjoy your birthday break, rest, relax your back, get a massage and take good care of yourself. I'll be reading when you are able to return.

Hi Maxine,
Thank you SO much for your kind words! They are very much appreciated 😊. I hope you enjoy the turkey!

I was perusing some recipes and saw this post! It looked very familiar to me so I clicked on it. Ahhhh, yes. Scotland. The most beautiful place I've been thus far!
Back in 2011 we went with my [now] husband and some of his siblings/cousins. We hiked through the Highlands, visited multiple scotch distillaries, and even tried some of their classic dishes like blood pudding and haggis. Needless to say we stuck to fish and chips after that:) We even got engaged at a small folly in the Hercules garden at Blair Atholl Castle in Pitlochery. Hope you had a great time!
