It's staycation time! My. Mind. Needs. A. BREAK! Anyone else feeling the quarantine fatigue? Blogger burnout? Writer's block? Whatever you want to call it, but you know that feeling where your brain just stops working and everything is exhausting even though it reeeeeally shouldn't be and usually isn't? THAT feeling. The struggle is real.
Due to quarantine aka vacations are not a thing right now, I haven't taken any substantial vacation since the winter holidays of 2019 (feels like a decade ago amiright?). There have been couple days here and there, a long weekend on occasion, but I usually have posts ready to go and put in more work prior to taking that time off. On top of that, any extra time I've had I usually put into our new house: landscaping, renovating, remodeling, project after project...
Here's the thing. The house projects? My work? Recipes and posts? I love those things! I truly enjoy doing them. Yet for about a month now, literally everything I do that isn't lounging around seems to be a struggle.
To be clear, I'm really fine and quite healthy so no need to worry! I have a fantastic counselor I "see" virtually every couple weeks and my daily anxiety meds still work wonders. My mind just feels like mush, as if I'm wading through mud. The struggle: I stare at a computer screen for an hour with no inspiration, I hardcore procrastinate every possible thing I can, I think "Oh I should do that thing..." and then I get back in bed, scroll through Instagram, and take a nap instead.
In conclusion, I need a vacation. But since we're still in the middle of a pandemic, I shall be taking a staycation next week. Also, it's good timing because it's our wedding anniversary! We would usually be traveling somewhere to celebrate anyway so why not take a break? Speaking of which, maybe my mind has been subconsciously trained to check out the week of September 9th every year 🤣.
The entire point of this post: I shall be out of the kitchen for a week to take a break. Never fear, Aberdeen's Kitchen will be back the week after, refreshed and better than ever! See you then 👋🏻.
Cheers!

Gaby, just to cheer you up a bit, I made your Santa Maria Tri Tip dinner tonight for 8 family and friends. I used flank steak instead ($2 cheaper that Tri tip!) but everything else the same. It was fabulous and loved by all! I love your recipes and have used many of them. Living near Gig Harbor I appreciate that you are now a Seattleite! Enjoy yours staycation and get some much needed rest and fun.
