Description

Calling all chocolate lovers! This vegan-friendly, velvety-smooth, decadent avocado chocolate mousse takes just 10 MINUTES to whip up, no baking necessary. All you need is a food processor and a sweet tooth! Recipe also includes an optional dairy free coconut whipped cream topping. 


Ingredients

For the Avocado Chocolate Mousse

  • 2 cups very ripe avocado (about 2 to 3 avocados)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cup maple syrup or preferred sweetener*
  • 1/2 cup coconut cream (solid, preferably chilled)*
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
  • Optional garnishes: coconut whipped cream (see below), chopped bittersweet chocolate, mint sprigs, cherries

For Coconut Whipped Cream Topping (Optional)*

  • 1 cup coconut cream (solid, preferably chilled)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup or preferred sweetener
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla paste or vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Make the coconut whipped cream if using: in a standing mixer, whisk together all ingredients (starting with 1 tablespoon of sweetener) for the coconut whipped cream until peaks form, about 2 minutes. Taste test and add more sweetener as desired, 1 teaspoon at a time. Place in the fridge to chill until ready to use.
  2. Combine all ingredients for avocado chocolate mousse in a food processor. Pulse until completely smooth.
  3. Spoon into desired serving bowls or glasses. Top with reserved coconut whipped cream if using, chopped chocolate, mint sprigs, and a cherry on top! Eat right away or chill for 10 to 20 minutes in the fridge for best resultsl

Notes

You can also use agave syrup or honey (not vegan).

Coconut cream is NOT the same as coconut milk or cream of coconut.

Alternatively, there are some store bought coconut whipped cream options that will also work! Or you could skip entirely and just enjoy the avocado chocolate mousse on its own.
