Description

Just 4 simple, refreshing ingredients for the perfect toast: champagne, your favorite gin, lemon juice, and a little sugar. Cheers!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 ounces Gin (I used Bombay Sapphire Gin)
  • 3 ounces Champagne or sparkling wine
  • 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 ounce simple syrup or a sugar cube
  • Lemon slice or lemon twist to garnish

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup *. Strain into a champagne flute or glass over ice.
  2. Top with Champagne or sparkling wine and a lemon slice or twist garnish.

Notes

To make simple syrup: Combine 1/2 cup sugar and a 1/2 cup water in a small pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let cool for about 5 minutes. Pour into a container and chill until completely cooled. Makes about 1/2 cup of syrup. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

If using a sugar cube, place the cube at the bottom of the flute and pour shaken gin and lemon juice over the top.
