Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 ounces bourbon whiskey
  • 3 dashes angostura bitters
  • 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons simple syrup*, or a sugar cube
  • 1 orange peel slice
  • 1 "drunken" or maraschino cherry
  • Splash of club soda
  • Ice cubes (I used one large ice orb).

Instructions

  1. In your favorite whiskey glass, pour in simple syrup or add sugar cube. If using a cube, pour bitters on top of the cube and crush the sugar. If using simple syrup, add bitters and stir gently.
  2. Add ice cube(s) to the glass. Pour bourbon over the ice. Stir as desired. Top with a splash of club soda.
  3. Garnish with an orange slice and drunken cherry.

Notes

*Never made simple syrup before? No worries, it’s easy! In a small sauce pan, heat equal parts water and white sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Then remove from heat, let cool, and then chill in the fridge! I usually make about 1 cup at a time, just to keep on hand; 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Keep in the fridge for up to a month!
