Have you guys heard of the golden milk phenomenon that's been going around the interwebs lately? Or maybe I'm just the last one in the know but I've been seeing it everywhere! And with good reason. Turmeric is awesome. It's one of my favorite spices to cook with because of it's vibrant color and mouthwatering aroma. And now I get to use it in beverages! Not too much, just a pinch, and you get that wonderful golden color, which brings me to the Golden Turmeric Fruit Smoothie.
So after my self proclaimed "I don't dooooo smoothies" remark and subsequent eating (or drinking in this case), of my words, I've have become quite the smoothie fanatic! Our freezer is chock full of frozen leftover fruits and spinach ice cubes just waiting to hit that blender. Funnily enough, I used entirely fresh fruit for this turmeric fruit smoothie. I felt the turmeric deserved it ????. Such an aromatic spice needs bright flavors to go along with it. And frozen papaya just isn't the same.
Made with fresh pineapple, orange, lemon juice, papaya, and ginger, I definitely went the tropical route with this smoothie. Speaking of fresh ginger, I grated it on a zester to make into a paste (don't want little chunks of ginger root in your smoothie!) and it really added to the flavor! Mixed in with coconut milk and yogurt, it makes it seem like you're, in Dan's words, " in a tropical paradise in your own home!". Love him.
Plus, there is the added bonus of a smoothie keeping you and your kitchen nice and cool during these long, hot, bright summer days. Seriously the sun seems to NEVER set here. Autumn hurry upppp!!!
In the meantime, beat the heat and enjoy a Golden Tumeric Fruit Smoothie! You'll be in paradise in no time.
